Effective Outreach to Lawmakers
Millions of older workers rely upon the the Senior Community Service Employment Program (SCSEP), which is contained within the The Older Americans Act (OAA), for upskilling and employment opportunities. In 2024, the AWC embarked on a a 3-part outreach plan to educate key policymakers on the critical role of older workers in our labor force and the value of SCSEP, the only federally funded workforce development program for older workers.
The 3-part outreach plan is based on identifying the 2024 legislative priorities of lawmakers who are key to the success of SCSEP and the Older Americans Act. With the assistance of Horizon Government Affairs, we identified 5 segments legislative priorities within the Republican party.
